BARNEY BODGER

BODGER is a very handsome dark bay heavyweight cob, standing at 15.1 hh. Has been measured by vet but not JMB yet.
He is 11yrs old with 10 inches of bone, great movement, and easy going temperament. He is a unique character and a bit of a mischief in the nicest possible way and endears
himself to you with his take it easy attitude and big soulful dark eyes.
Bodger was backed at 5yrs and then turned away, and unfortunately for him, and no fault of his own, was not brought back into work until early this year. So although he is eleven in his work he is the equivalent of a novice 5yr old. Nevertheless, he hacks out a few times a week on quiet roads in the New Forest is completely relaxed and enjoys every minute. He is happy to go in a group or on his own. He is currently being schooled and should soon be ready to do ridden cob classes at local shows. He has already taken part in a few huge in-hand cob type classes, been placed highly in all of them, and behaved impeccably.
He is very obedient long reining and on the lunge, showing three lovely light paces with lovely hock action. We have introduced him to small jumps which he enjoys.
As far as traffic and farm machinery is concerned, we have nudged him with the tractor loaded up with haylage bales when he got in the way in the field but he wouldnt move just stood and stared with not a care in the world. He has had pigeons flapping around him and diving between his legs during breaking, and carried on oblivious. Bodger would make a great allround riding cob, and would do well at local shows. This adorable little chap would be a champion, he has the looks, the movement, the temperament, manners and boldness, but his fetlocks are bit of an square shape.
In the summer he has a stunning reddish bay coat which really makes him stand out. We are sure he would take to hunting as he ploughs through the mud and wet and pops over ditches. He has been lunged over jumps and enjoys it. So anyone interested in this super cob, and who is prepared to put the work in, will be well rewarded with a very versatile and capable chap. I would find it hard to believe that anyone who meets him would not want to take him home. Although as a foal we called him Touch O'Blarney, and thats what his passport says, we have always called him Barney Bodger and thats the name we show him under, it suits him. Its hard to part with this loveable chap so we hope he finds a good home. He is fully vaccinated, wormed and never had a days lameness. Open to vet.
